For those wondering. Since Phanta was just a shadow that crawled over the map's terrain, this model was used with an intersect material to achieve that. Making it so said shadow would easily appear over anything and everything the boss traveled over during the fight. A bit of 'stage magic' if you will.

@jamie_25 you can get the model straight from the game in .smd format, you must download the tools GCFScape and Crowbar. You must go to Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf and then open the file "tf2_textures_dir.vpk" using GCFScape. Afterwards, you must locate models\player\soldier, then extract the file "soldier.mdl". Then, you must decompile the .mdl using Crowbar, and amongst the decompiled files you will find "soldier.smd".
