@JoomieOrSomething ripping models and assets from a game that you bought or was released publicly that anyone can access it is perfectly okay, Nintendo and some other companies don't care that much about models that anyone can get.

@DigitalDiamal: Yep, and he was just given a warning for submitting it with malicious intent. Next warning will be his last, as he's broken multiple rules already.

@WeefeeMEME Didn't they say that's not allowed since the model came from the leak?

@JoomieOrSomething Yes, there’s a big difference and it was described to you below. Basically though, for games that are available to the public, that data is already out there. The leak data was not available to the public and contained a lot of confidential information. The nature of how this information was obtained is the difference.

We have repeatedly admitted that we operate in a gray area as it stands which is all the more reason to shy away from this data as it is a high-profile breach with likely illegal origins that we can’t be associated with.

is there really any difference because you're still taking content from a copyright protected intellectual property, public or not. it's still not that legal.

@JoomieOrSomething: There's a major difference between content ripped as-is from games released to the public and content that was stolen in a server breach. How hard is that to understand???

If someone were to make their own custom Luigi model, not ripped from someone else's mod and not the leaked model, then that would be fine.

@mariosonic500: No, it's that we don't want to poke the hornet's nest. Nintendo has already started taking down links to the leaked content. We do NOT want to be in their crosshairs.
