I decided to look into the Global Testfire again, and discovered an early version of the diffuse texture, the text and arrows in the emblem were just flipped in the release texture. There's barely a difference between the models.

@Omegaling Jack The game itself features a fixed camera angle that can only show Mario at a limited amount of angles. Therefore, saving them as sprites is acceptable in this case.

@enderlucario It's entirely possiable to separate parts of a model by deleting polygons and saving the separated item as a different model.
