This one is uncanny, and his mask makes no sense. The ninja mask covered his reptilian-like mouth, but here, there's no point on wearing a mask, he doesn't even look like a ninja anymore and he's ugly like the lizard from the spiderman movie. Reptile was iconic because he was the green ninja, in MK4, he's just a reptilian dude who looks ugly, the green in his skin looks bad, and of all colors, they chose purple for his pants. Atleast the MKDA one had a better ninja-like suit, and had better colors in the design. |

It's quite simple, really. If the eyelids were all the way open, it would be super hard for the artist to see and rig all the individual points. If the eye were all the way closed, it would be hard for the artist to distinguish between the points in the upper and lower eyelids. This is the same reason why a lot of modern character mouths are in a slightly open neutral shape. |
